Get-Back-Ride

Saturday, December 5, 2020

START Location

Ponce de Leon Middle School

5801 Augusto St, Coral Gables, FL 33146

Park and gather along the field which runs parallel to US-1

Time

7:15 am Gather for our pre-ride tutorial

7:30 am Pedals-up, groups of 10 will have staggered starts.

Ride destinations

14 - 16 mph: Deering Estate (20 miles)

16 - 18 mph: Black Point Marina (32 miles)

We are planning to provide ride leaders but this cannot be guaranteed. As we adjust to the new reality, please consider that any ride leaders will function more like navigators providing route assistance. The planned routes are linked below and will be available for members and friends to download or print out before the ride. Within each pace group, we will be organizing groups of 10 members each with staggered ride starts.

Faster riders/groups (e.g. 18-20 or 20+) may self determine to go out on their own from Ponce leaderless while adhering to the new safety protocols. That would be an individual decision within that specific group.

Pace Group 16-18 round trip to Blackpoint: ROUTE

For the leaderless Pace Group 18-20 suggested route: ROUTE

  • Parking is available on Augusto Street and parallel parking on the street in front of the school adjacent to US 1.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS
As always, we will continue to practice safe cycling protocols like obeying traffic rules, wearing helmets, and sharing the road, but we are now adding safe health protocols:

-Keeping a 6’ distance between cyclists
-Wearing a face mask/gaiter/shield before the rides start, at rest stops, and during any prolonged time period when we are not pedaling.
-No spitting
-No conversations or verbal utterances during the rides. The exceptions would be from the ride leaders directing the group or when there is a dangerous situation requiring attention.
-Splitting riders into groups of 10 in each pace group with staggered ride-starts.

Please do not be sensitive if a ride leader or another member expresses concern if you are not following these health safety protocols. Be considerate of your fellow cyclists.

NOTE: Ride leaders are volunteers and have the right to decline to continue to lead a ride if that ride leader has a reasonable fear that the group is not acting in a safe manner.

WAIVER
In consultation with our insurance carrier we have updated our standard waiver which now includes language specific to COVID. The updated waiver is found here.

Joining any EBC official ride constitutes an acceptance of the revised waiver.

COVID CHECKLIST
Prepared by our insurance carrier in consultation with the
